Omari Antonio Frederick better known by his rap name Tonymarss, is an American recording artist, songwriter, actor, and entrepreneur. He was born and raised in Trenton, New Jersey, where he spent most of his adolescent life. His music focuses on cadence and lyrical prowess above all, and is a refreshing mix of classic hip hop from the late 90s, early 2000s and modern day pop culture. While he excels in northeastern-style rap, he prefers to stay versatile, and can just as easily change styles if the track requires more of a different influence on the song, but will always put his own original spin on it.
He just recently dropped his single “Work it Out” which appeared on Fat Joe’s artist mixtape “The Making of a Don Vol 4”. Releasing a song to later be on his Ep aptly named “Marss”. One of his favorite quotes is “Reach for the moon, if you miss, you’ll still be among the stars” speaking to his universal ambition. Tonymarss’ love of music stretches to his childhood. As long as he can remember, he’s loved listening to Rap and R&B with his parents, and anyone else who’ll listen with him. Some of his favorite childhood memories are being in the car with his parents listening to artists such as Common, Mos Def, Fabolous, Kanye West, Mary J Blige, Jay Z, Lauryn Hill and others. At that age he mostly paid attention to instrumentals. Growing up Tonymarss has always excelled when it came to writing and public speaking, and applies these skills to his artistry. He genuinely loves music of many genres and believes originality is the best way to go about it. Blackout is a song that Tonymarss made in a point in his life when he saw people acting differently around him for different reasons. The song has a lot of energy and the lyrics speak of people only checking on him when they are in need of something, which is a scenario I’m sure people can relate to |
