Rose Venom is the artist name that came to me when I was releasing my first track; Gentle and subtle as a flower, but with venomous capabilities; Makes me feel like a villain and superhero all at the same time. Music has always been my go to for anything, whether I am sad or happy, there’s music out there to fit any mood and emotion. I have been working on music with my brother, who has produced several songs for me as well as a few other local artists and I feel that being able to share the love for music made our bond stronger.
When I wrote the lyrics for “So Blue” I thought of it as a damaged love story, but one that had two sides. I reached out to my good friend and local artist Vic (Toast) and after he heard the song, he immediately came back with a recorded verse. Vic and I work very well together and we always make the best of the situation; we shot the video during icu conditions in 25 degree weather, but with the chemistry and professional bond, it flowed nicely. I wanted a video that was simple, yet one that portrayed the message of the song. This song was released together with another one of my most favorite projects “roses have thorns”.
My biggest influences in music is Billie Eilish, Sia, Halsey, G Eazy, Eminem and a few others. Lyrics are very important to me because that’s what tells the story, but you have to have a beat that matches your vibe too.
One of my favorite songs is by Sia “Bird Set Free” because that song motivates me and pushes me to continue doing what I love despite what others may think. As she sings, “And I don't care if I sing off key
I find myself in my melodies; I sing for love, I sing for me
I shout it out like a bird set free.”
Currently I am working on a project “Stars are falling” with Toast. On this project we collaborated with Chris Adams to produce the song as well as Austin Leeds who will mix and master the final version. I find that the diversity among artists/producers, makes a project that much better.
I appreciate all of the time and effort that anyone puts into my project or into working with me. I can say without a doubt that music is life.
