Michael Troy, better known by his stage name Myka 9, is an American rapper and record producer from Los Angeles, California. First rising to prominence as a member of Freestyle Fellowship, Myka 9 was instrumental in the Good Life Cafe scene in the early 1990s and had a profound influence on Los Angeles underground hip hop and freestyle rap in general. Myka 9 is known for his rapid-fire, jazz-influenced, melodic rapping style, and often incorporates singing and occasionally rapping into his songs.
After releasing two albums as a member of Freestyle Fellowship, Myka 9 made his solo debut in 1999 with It's All Love. He has since released six additional solo albums, in addition to albums as a member of Freestyle Fellowship, Haiku D'Etat and Magic Heart Genies, and collaborative albums with Factor, Abstract Rude, and Adriatic.

A-OK All Day Records presents “Joy & Pain”, the new single from Los Angeles emcee Myka 9, featuring fellow LA lyricist Blu. “Joy & Pain” is the lead single from Nine Clouds, Myka’s forthcoming collaboration album with UK producer Profound, who tragically passed away just after the album’s completion. Aceyalone, Abstract Rude, Eligh & The Grouch of Living Legends, Blueprint, Lily Fangz, Joaquin Daniels and DJ Essential also appear on the album. Myka redefined the boundaries of rhyme and meter as a founding member of Los Angeles collective Freestyle Fellowship (“Innercity Boundaries” on Youtube) and has also released several solo albums. Blu made his mark via his Below The Heavens album alongside producer Exile.
