It is only correct that I open, first, by "opening up"... So 12 yrs ago today I started on what I consider my musical journey. I had been musically engaged long before then, e.g. I had done talent shows, traveled with a rap group which put me in front of crowds and on stages as early as 12 yrs old and so forth. Now I say my journey started 12 yrs ago in 2008, because it was at this time that there were photo shoots, an upscale recording studio at my disposal, meetings with industry people/reps. and associates, tracks produced by Toomp, Just Blaze and etc. That part of the journey however was very short lived due to what I call the "heart of man". It turned out that the same individuals who praised me ever so heavily and boasted on about how I would be the one who opened doors for us, were now the same ones housing jealousy and envy towards the attention that I gained as those doors were being opened. Ultimately the "heart of man" caused a major rift in what we had going and it all soon plummeted, sending me to the lowest and darkest point of my life. It took 10 yrs for me to regain the life blood needed to resume my goal path. That said, NO TEARS HERE! With all things of no service placed behind, its ¡GAMETIME!
I go by the name LoBēsē (pronounced: lo-bEE-see). We could say that my craft was being honed at ages early as 7-8 when I would write love notes, they would often contain some poetic form of writing lol. Around the age of 12 I began dating the daughter of a pastor, who turned out to have a gospel rap group named Life Row which comprised mostly of his children. In no time my musical ability was brought to their attention and I began traveling and sharing my talents on stages with them. Back then my knowledge extended as far as religion only (which i obviously wasn't very knowledgeable of that itself), I knew nothing about Spirituality. So as I grew older and more mature, the realization that I was not so much living the "holy" life portrayed through our music, I began to fade away from that scene. From there I linked up with my guy Prophet Yae (T.T.) who was once the primary beat producer for Life Row Records. Now aside from West Coast artists such as Pac and Snoop Dogg, being from the South of course, some of my greatest influences come from the likes of Scarface; Trick Daddy; Juvenile and such. However, my musical prowess was heightened through being around individuals such as Prophet Yae who had more diverse tuning to music and turned me on to artists like Jay-Z, Nas, Beanie Siegal and State Property, even on out to artists like Sting, Sade, and Prince! Not to mention my first ever influence to write an actual song came from the tongue-twisting flow of BoneThugs- and-Harmony. I believe that by having such a diverse taste in music (trust me, it gets deeper) is what has developed me into an all-around artist. I can hold it down on any style track, no matter the coast it comes from- no cocky no cap. Now to speak about the origin of my name... the 'Lo' in LoBese comes from my cousin's name Loretta, who has transcended. She being my greatest supporter, would always say "when the right person hears you". She always felt that my talent is what could take the family out of poverty... 'Bese' is from the word "obese". I see it as she is surely with me more now than what she was here, and so now the 2 of us together will certainly be "big", hence the definition of the word- obese. Significantly enough I come to find out not long ago, that Lobese in Spanish means, *I kissed him* How about that. What is my intentions? I'm not here for fame and fortune. I'm a little old school with it, my dedication is to the culture. Through my gifts and talents i look to help get hip hop back closer to that sweet spot of its origin. I listen to lot of reggae- it'smy gospel. Reggae to me is more so "life" music. Today i think thats what hip hop is missing most, "LIFE". but no worry, I'm Heeaah!! As for what im working on, just let me say, I AM WORKING. All will come to show, continuously. Without furtherado, i humbly accept my welcoming -Bese- |
