After linking with Jay Z and Kanye West this past weekend, and inking a deal with rapper Boldy James, Griselda Records’ Westside Gunn continues his prolific run in Hip-Hop. The label has dropped mixtapes and albums at an astounding rate in the latter half of this decade, topping it off with the group project WWCD and a handful of other tapes in 2019. GxFR has now started the new decade with their first female signee, Buffalo’s own Armani Caesar. Although she provides a sound that is much different than the grimy, old school raps of Benny The Butcher and co., Caesar still undeniably has bars. Her production is typically different than that of label mates Boldy James and Conway the Machine, diversifying the types of Hip-Hop GxFR puts out.
Armani has been grinding for a minute. On her website, she has a line of merchandise and a shop, and a similar love of fashion to Westside Gunn, clearly. Gunn is notably involved in fashion, as he’s close with the likes of Virgil Abloh and appears at various fashion week events. Even though she reps the 716 everywhere she goes, Caesar relocated to Charlotte temporarily after high school. She says that she’s been rapping since she was 12, and has a deep-seated love for hip-hop. Her output in the past couple of years has been consistent, but she hasn’t really broken through yet, as there is relatively little information about her online. Armani has 3 projects under her belt, dating back to 2011, but has started releasing music more frequently in the past 2 years. In listening to her music, the likes of Megan Thee Stallion and City Girls come to mind. She has an undeniable moxy and confidence and exudes attitude. Her music is fun, something to bump in the whip with friends, which I wouldn’t usually apply to any of her label mates. Hip Hop BlogRap Music Videos & News
