actsrap acts, such as Pro.ERA, Flatbush Zombies, and OG Brooklyn MC, Talib Kweli.
As his music career continues to develop, donSMITH has taken the past year to hone in on his
growing east coast fanbase, performing frequently throughout New York City. Formerly based in

LA may be known for forging giants but don’t let rapper Vel the Wonder’s five-foot stature convince you otherwise; during any set by the Baldwin Park rhymer, audiences feel her thunderous voice rip through bar after bar with no sign of letting down. Growing up in a family of five all living in a single room and relying on public transportation, Vel developed a deep love for graffiti which served as an entryway into and an affiliation with the storytelling capacities of hip-hop. Her no-nonsense demeanor and passionate delivery demonstrate Vel’s unmatched ability to capture any feeling through her lyrics. Vel has grown through her music, never shying away from the stage and sharing them with hip-hop mainstays like Immortal Technique, Evidence, Psycho Realm and Benny the Butcher. With three releases over four years, Vel just dropped her fourth independent project, La Sena Ave (2019) which highlights Vel’s emotional lyricism over head bobbing hip-hop beats inflected with jazzy horn melodies. Vel will be heading out on an international tour this spring to share her experiences with the world and empower audiences through hip-hop before her debut on the Levitt LA stage!
Who is Markos Tegui? Markos Tegui is a survivor. A survivor of a difficult child hood, survivor of addiction, and a survivor of the streets. More importantly, Markos Tegui is an inspiration to all! His life and his music teach the listener that no matter what life throws at you, if you chose to prevail, you will!
Markos Tegui was born in Puerto Rico in 1984. At the age of 4 Markos' family moved to San Diego. Specifically, the Linda Vista neighborhood. There he was introduced to an array of American culture. Specifically, it was American Hip Hop culture that really grabbed hold of his heart. As a result at the young age of 6 Markos began break dancing and preforming at talent shows and festival around the city. He was also into playing soccer, little league, and martial arts. All of these sports helped to build his talent and passion for music. The life experiences taught him discipline, competitiveness, and how to be a team player in a competitive environment.
Shortly, after discovering his new passions and talents Markos' home life took a turn for the worst. Hiis brother fell victim to circumstances outside of any ones control, and the unfortunate event in his life left the family in disarray. Unfortunately, for Markos this was the beginning of a long road to over coming the odds. Yet at the same time the beginning of creating and molding himself into a great artist and lyricist. The struggle of his family became his main motivation to spit. After Markos' father left the home Markos' family life became a constant struggle. Markos was determined to change the future for his entire family and as a result he was in seek of new avenues to make that dream a reality.
Consequently, Markos turned to music at the age of 12. Markos used writing as a way to express the emotions he had as a result of the environment he lived in, and as a way to avoid the politics, and gang banging that was happening in his neighborhood. At first his music was an outlet where Markos could express his feelings toward the hardships he had became a victim to. The hardships he faced lead him to focus on current events in his life. He began to write about childhood difficulties, divorce, single motherhood, and family issues.
At 16, Markos began to take on the role of the man of the house. Dropping out of high school and working along side his others siblings to help provide for the entire family. He strived to help his mother and his siblings. His only desire was to stand up and be the man he knew his mother deserved. However, he couldn't avoid the meltdown and eventually found himself in a place no one should ever have to find themselves. He started playing around with drugs and the trip was not a favorable one. All his work was heldback as he stranded in a nomadic lifestyle. He had poor relationships that lead to his writing materials being lost in the world forever. So, if you happen across an old set of headphones connected to a tape-deck walkman you may want to play it? It may just be the lost tapes of Markos Tegui aka Decimal. Markos liked to record on a set of head phones and tape deck prior to the digital age!
Today, Markos is a New Man. He is more determined than ever and his music has evolved in a way that surpasses the digital era. His sound is pop, hip hop, rap, and techno/dub-step combined. His unique mixes and hard hitting lyrics with a message set him apart from most local artist in the industry. He talks about life, the streets, family, and community. He wants to be a part of the solution. He wants his music to touch and move all who hear it. He has 2 Releases "Time Traveler" EP and "Who Is Markos Tegui" LP, and is currently developing Artist, as well as prepping up his next Albums to drop.
It is only correct that I open, first, by "opening up"... So 12 yrs ago today I started on what I consider my musical journey. I had been musically engaged long before then, e.g. I had done talent shows, traveled with a rap group which put me in front of crowds and on stages as early as 12 yrs old and so forth. Now I say my journey started 12 yrs ago in 2008, because it was at this time that there were photo shoots, an upscale recording studio at my disposal, meetings with industry people/reps. and associates, tracks produced by Toomp, Just Blaze and etc. That part of the journey however was very short lived due to what I call the "heart of man". It turned out that the same individuals who praised me ever so heavily and boasted on about how I would be the one who opened doors for us, were now the same ones housing jealousy and envy towards the attention that I gained as those doors were being opened. Ultimately the "heart of man" caused a major rift in what we had going and it all soon plummeted, sending me to the lowest and darkest point of my life. It took 10 yrs for me to regain the life blood needed to resume my goal path. That said, NO TEARS HERE! With all things of no service placed behind, its ¡GAMETIME!
I go by the name LoBēsē (pronounced: lo-bEE-see). We could say that my craft was being honed at ages early as 7-8 when I would write love notes, they would often contain some poetic form of writing lol. Around the age of 12 I began dating the daughter of a pastor, who turned out to have a gospel rap group named Life Row which comprised mostly of his children. In no time my musical ability was brought to their attention and I began traveling and sharing my talents on stages with them. Back then my knowledge extended as far as religion only (which i obviously wasn't very knowledgeable of that itself), I knew nothing about Spirituality. So as I grew older and more mature, the realization that I was not so much living the "holy" life portrayed through our music, I began to fade away from that scene. From there I linked up with my guy Prophet Yae (T.T.) who was once the primary beat producer for Life Row Records.
Now aside from West Coast artists such as Pac and Snoop Dogg, being from the South of course, some of my greatest influences come from the likes of Scarface; Trick Daddy; Juvenile and such. However, my musical prowess was heightened through being around individuals such as Prophet Yae who had more diverse tuning to music and turned me on to artists like Jay-Z, Nas, Beanie Siegal and State Property, even on out to artists like Sting, Sade, and Prince! Not to mention my first ever influence to write an actual song came from the tongue-twisting flow of BoneThugs- and-Harmony. I believe that by having such a diverse taste in music (trust me, it gets deeper) is what has developed me into an all-around artist. I can hold it down on any style track, no matter the coast it comes from- no cocky no cap.
Now to speak about the origin of my name... the 'Lo' in LoBese comes from my cousin's name Loretta, who has transcended. She being my greatest supporter, would always say "when the right person hears you". She always felt that my talent is what could take the family out of poverty... 'Bese' is from the word "obese". I see it as she is surely with me more now than what she was here, and so now the 2 of us together will certainly be "big", hence the definition of the word- obese. Significantly enough I come to find out not long ago, that Lobese in Spanish means,
*I kissed him* How about that.
What is my intentions? I'm not here for fame and fortune. I'm a little old school with it, my dedication is to the culture. Through my gifts and talents i look to help get hip hop back closer to that sweet spot of its origin. I listen to lot of reggae- it'smy gospel. Reggae to me is more so "life" music. Today i think thats what hip hop is missing most, "LIFE". but no worry, I'm Heeaah!! As for what im working on, just let me say, I AM WORKING. All will come to show, continuously. Without furtherado, i humbly accept my welcoming -Bese-

Shiest had been doing promotional work for Cam'ron and Juelz Santana. For the new Purple City project, Agallah was christened "the Don Bishop", with Shiest as "the Emperor." Jones' enthusiasm for Ag's track "Gangsta" garnered the producer/MC a slot on the Diplomats Volume 4 mixtape.
Purple City signed to Babygrande Records in late 2004. The following year, the label released a "greatest hits" collection that culled tracks from their mixtapes.
Agallah's profile as a solo artist has also expanded in the wake of Purple City's rise, with the release of You Already Know (featuring appearances by Dead Prez and Nappy Roots, with production by DJ Premier and Alchemist) on Babygrande coupled with the release of the mixtape Propane Piff on Koch Records.

In mid-2007, Agallah stated in a MySpace bulletin that he was no longer signed to Babygrande.
In 2012, Agallah featured on rapper/producer Danny!'s seventh studio album Payback. Agallah can be seen featured in a number of videos with fellow Propain Campain member PopOff, including the "Make It Out" video.
